Extension Springs
A steel extension spring is a spring made of wire that is loaded by stretching. The extension spring provides a force that opposes the direction of axial extension. An extension spring is defined by its diameter, wire thickness, spring length, orientation, and type of loops (English, German, or custom).
At Roveron, we can supply extension springs in various sizes and shapes, such as conical and bi-conical extension springs. We offer extension springs with German loops, English loops, double loops, single loops, hooks, D loops, loose loops, plugs, or with threads at both ends.
If an existing spring needs to be stronger, weaker, longer, or shorter, the design can be adjusted in consultation. This ensures that the spring is suitable for the desired applications and that the expected lifespan can be achieved.
Extension Springs in Exotic Materials
Roveron has a wide variety of materials available and in stock in common wire thicknesses. We are known for our extensive range of exotic materials. Below is an overview of commonly used exotic materials that we have in stock.

Extension Spring Lengths
We also offer extension springs by the strand, allowing customers to experiment with different lengths. Longer extension springs are often used as anti-buckling springs or protective springs.
For extension springs, plain Class-C spring steel is usually used due to its strong force and relatively low cost. Stainless steel is also popular due to its corrosion resistance. Additionally, we offer extension springs in exotic materials such as titanium, copper, aluminum, brass, and many more. Titanium extension springs are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, making them suitable for aerospace applications.
Operating Temperature
When looking for extension springs, it's important to consider the operating temperature of the material. At Roveron, we have a wide range of materials from which extension springs can be manufactured with good spring properties at temperatures ranging from -200 degrees Celsius to well over +1000 degrees Celsius. Consult our website under the materials section for more information about the specific operating temperature of each material.
Treatment of Extension Springs
At Roveron, we offer various treatments for our springs, such as galvanizing in different colors, powder coating, chemical blackening, and shot peening. For more information about the different treatments we offer, please refer to our website.
